Whales 4 day 7

It’s the last full day on Lady Maryland. All the students feel sad to leave the boat but are also looking forward to showering. In the morning, students visited and explored an estuary. They used a seine net to catch a variety of different organisms. Later in the afternoon, students had a “field day” activity, where they returned a favor to the Lady Maryland by doing a deep clean of all parts of the boat. Then the students had a science olympics competition, where the port and starboard side competed to demonstrate their learning throughout the boat portion of this camp. For the second portion of this competition, all the students worked together to set up the sails and raise the anchor without any of the crew’s help! All the crew were amazed by this and felt proud of the students.  Afterwards, the students presented their final projects, which they have worked on very hard. They wrapped up the day with a final reflection of the trip. At night, the students got ready to go to sleep and listened to the crew’s song, “Habitat”. Everyone felt sad because it was the last time to sleep on the boat, especially on the deck.
Thank you Lady Maryland, all the crew members and the students..! ❤️
