Whales are fish

Just kidding! They are mammals and we saw our first whale(s) today! A Fin whale mom and calf pair! (Sorry we were too excited to take pictures).

Yesterday we anchored in a cove off of Buzzards Bay before the Cape Cod canal. We stayed just long enough to dissect some squids and catch some fireworks around the cove!

Today after a quick sail up through Cape Cod Bay, passing by Boston Harbor, we made it to Gloucester by lunch! We were so excited by the abundance of schooners we set off our ship's mini cannon and the other schooners responded (Mate LP seen doing so below).
This is a photo taken of our boat from the Adventure's crew member Emma Bilski, the boat we will be tying up to before our upcoming whale watch!
Before we anchored in Gloucester Bay, we did a quick trawl and caught six lobsters, a baby lump fish, a bunch of kelp and mud, as well as some invasive green crabs and one native rock crab.

Tonight we are making fish print patriotic/fish-themed shirts for tomorrow's 4th of July sailing!
